Best TV shows on DVD

Postby hornsfan44 on Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:52 pm

Help me out. I need to get some seasons for the upcoming deployment. Im pretty good on movies, plus we can get the newest movies once we're downrange.

Here's what I have:
The Unit Season 1, 2, and 3
Friends
Some Reno 911
Chappelle Show 1 and 2

On the list to get so far:
24 (I think 1-6 is on DVD right now)
Entourage (1-4)

Help me keep some sanity in the desert...

I plan to buy whatever seasons of The Shield and Lost that are currently on DVD and give them a try.

Currently I have Millenium seasons 1-2-3 on DVD.

I plan to buy The X Files one of these days.

The top two TV shows of all time - The Sopranos and The Wire - are musts if you have not yet been privy to them.

I've heard good things about The Sheild, though I haven't gotten to it yet.

The Office will make any day better.

Lost is about as good as you're gonna get of the non-cable shows.

The early seaons of 24 will dominate.

I like Wiz's recommendations.

Sopranos, Wire, Shield for action/drama

Office for comedy.

Lost might be too dense/confusing/hard to keep up with for your purposes.

24 is decent, but I'd do all of the above first.

The Wire is a must....and I highly recommend catching up on the Shield. Two of my favorite shows.

Not sure if you're looking for multiple seasons, but the best new shows imo are Dexter, Californication, Damages and definitely Mad Men....I would strongly suggest all of those, but only Dexter has a second season in that group.

Yeah, Dexter is really good. I didn't see season 2....I may need to go pick that up.

I have not got all the way into Weeds, but the couple episodes I have seen were pretty funny.

Yeah, that show jumped the shark in a big way the last couple seasons.
