Some friends of mine who have a little girl who plays softball went to see the US squad play in Topeka, Kansas. They said whe has a stride during her pitch that covers like 8 feet. Lengthy even for a firl who is her heighth. Probably where she generates alot of her speed.

Everyone wants Texas to compromise– understandably– but what are the rest of the schools offering the Longhorns? It’s Texas with the groundbreaking network. It’s Texas with the most to lose.

I saw the volleyball gals dogpile each other last ight and was suitably impressed. Misty May is hot.

Oh, and Albert Collins is as underrated as the softball team is dominant.

I got to see Albert Collins at Antone's (on Guadalupe) about 10 years ago.

Great, great show.

Ear-piercing guitar, too.

During Texas' spring break in '93, I went to visit my brother in NYC. Albert was playing the Lone Star Roadhouse, so I went to show. He was really cool -- after his set, he hung around and shook hands, signed anything people had brought. He saw my Longhorn cap and shook my hand, talked about Antone's and such, totally cool guy. I got a picture with him.

The show may not have been quite on par as when I saw James Brown at Radio City Music Hall the following year, but then again, I never heard of Albert pulling shotguns on people or being involved in interstate chases :D

Two old maids, they were layin' in the sand,
One rolled over and said "I wish you was a man",
She said, "No, no child I ain't no man,
But keep still babe I'll do the best I can!"
