Postby txlonghorn47 on Thu Oct 26, 2017 8:45 am

The Longhorns begin their season Sept. 1 at Maryland and host TCU on Sept. 22 to start conference play.

IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference office announced the 2018 league football schedule on Thursday morning. The announcement completes Texas’ 2018 slate, as the three non-conference games were previously released.

The conference slate begins at home for the first time since 2015 when the Longhorns host TCU on Sept. 22 at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium. Texas also hosts Baylor (Oct. 13), West Virginia (Nov. 3) and Iowa State (Nov. 17) in Big 12 play at home.

The Longhorns start the road portion of the Big 12 schedule on Sept. 29 at Kansas State. They will also travel to Oklahoma State (Oct. 27), Texas Tech (Nov. 10) and Kansas (Nov. 23).

The AT&T Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas against Oklahoma is set for Oct. 6.

Texas is scheduled to begin their season on Sept. 1 on the road against Maryland. That game will be played at FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins, in Landover, Md. The Longhorns then play host to Tulsa (Sept. 8) and USC (Sept. 15) to close out the nonconference portion of the schedule.

Yeah, that is odd.

Three home games in September. Yuck.

Really weird. TX/OU Weekend is different too. Isn’t it always the 2nd Saturday in October?

Historically I thought it was always the first weekend.....that changed a few years ago....I think....or I could totally wrong about that, but I thought I remembered that from my UT days.....I drank a lot back then...."then".

Historically the 2nd weekend but it's been the first a handful of times since 2000

Yeah almost always been second Saturday. Been a couple times where it falls weird because of the fair schedule.

Well if you are the optimistic type (so none of us), playing Kansas on Thanksgiving weekend means that the Big 12 thinks we might be in the Big 12 title game so they don't want a back to back rematch.

Oklahoma State plays Kansas last this year.
