Texas Coaching Search 2016

Postby HornMafia on Sun Nov 20, 2016 5:03 pm

Multiple outlets reporting there is a team dinner tonight that was previously unscheduled.

Chip Brown saying that Fenves had an initial plan of waiting until after TCU, but has changed his mind and will negotiate a buyout/resignation with Strong before the 11 AM press conference tomorrow.

Also, IT and Football Brainiacs seem to think LSU (Fisher?) and Baylor (Morris?) already have their guy.

Mike Perrin says tonight that a decision will be made after the TCU game, and others are saying that Strong hasn't been told as of 5:30 PM.

They are determined to make this a shit show.

So Chip says Charlie might be able to save his job with a win over TCU, while Ketch and Burton are saying McRaven is involved and if the decision is made to fire Charlie that he is "thinking big" and Herman might not fit that bill.

Ketch also saying that Herman has given Texas 48 hours for Fenves/Perrin to show interest or he is moving on.

*wanking motion*

IT pretty much staying constant and saying Herman is the choice and he will jump at the chance.

Wild theory...

You know what else Friday represents besides end of regular season for both Strong and Herman?

The last regular season game for TCU.

What if all of this dog and pony show was to keep people guessing on what will happen to two outcomes that have already been decided in private (Strong and Herman), and the real reason they are trying to run out the clock on this week is that someone from TCU will be coming to Texas, but cannot do so until after Friday's game (to shield both universities)? What if such a new hire would make sense from a sequencing perspective on a new coaching hire?

What if Chris Del Conte will be announced as the new AD on Saturday?

If I'm Fenves and McRaven (and Perrin), I want to have alignment and buy in on the new HC from the guy who will be his superior (long term strategy) and would also want a true professional AD handling the public transfer of power from Strong to new coach (to answer all of the questions on the big stage). This AD candidate vetting could have been happening in the background for a while.

And if I'm Herman, I want to know who I'll be reporting to over the long haul. And Chris and Tom were together at Rice, and supposedly still have a close relationship.

Chris is pretty much the ideal candidate for the job, regardless of the ties to Herman. So a sub-theory is that this would be the plan even if the traditional sequencing isn't there (maybe Del Conte wants to help find and acquire a replacement before the announcement is made public).

Yay, nay, or cray?

Still, the need to get past the Texas game is probably more important than the need to finish the regular season, so the time line could still work for the same reason.

LOL

Texas coach Charlie Strong could save his job with a blowout win over TCU on Friday, a university source said. http://www.hookem.com/story/last-chance ... ie-strong/

I kept asking y'all who was Plan B but was told it was not a concern because this was his dream job and in the bag.

So, I ask again, who is Plan B?

Well if we didn't have an administration that continues to insist on looking as fucking clueless as possible we didn't need a plan B.

I'm sure UT can find a Plan B capable of coaching UT to better than a .457 record.
