But that isn't the reason why Saban flew Herman out three times this past summer (after doing so last January before his championship game against Clemson). And it isn't the reason he'll be our new coach, nor is it why he'll have incredible success here. The reason for those things is because his player-talent independent abilities and processes are already among the elite in college football.

Barring a historic comeback, Herman will have 2 wins over teams currently in the CFB Playoff Top 10 this season.

Compare that to Strong's 1 win over a team with a record over .500 this year.

But don't worry... Strong told us Texas would never lose 5 games again in 2014 so it's all good!

I'm not sure I said exactly that, but I did say this was more about losing confidence in Herman than it was gaining confidence in Charlie. Great game tonight, no doubt, but it does raise questions about how THAT team lost to SMU.

To me, it was Herman or bust (get out of here with Harsin, Fedora, etc.), and tonight certainly made me feel better about that hire if it comes to that.

Moral of the story we have an administration who likes to talk like we are a football blue blood, but their actions don't back it up. See the Mack firing and Saban flirting and Strong hiring fiasco. The OC hiring embaraseent last year. And now letting the future of the program ride on the results of one game against a .500 team as opposed to the full 3 year body of work.

I said all week that he shouldn't be on the plane home if we lost this game. My heart hurts for him and his family, but this is a tough job and that's why you make the big bucks.

Seriously??? There's lots of young teams that could beat Kansas. Heck, our LMFZ flag team from several years back might beat them. This young team beat better opponentsoon than Kansas this year.
