The Masters

Okay the greatness is upon us.

I literally have no idea who to take in fantasy this week. The only one of the "favorites" I can't pick is Fowler as I've already used him this year. I was 100% in on Jason Day about a month ago, but now I'm wavering. I don't like that he's coming in on a streak, kind of rare for a guy to keep a streak going into a major. Also concerned about the back and flu bothering him.

Bought into a big calcutta last night. Total pot is around $74K. Top pick was Rory at $7100. We got Stenson, Jimmy Walker, Horschel, Knox, and Grillo.

Also bought into a pool. You pick 2 of the favorites, 3 of the next step down, and 4 of the rest of the field. Best 5 man score wins and at least 5 must make the cut. Bought two teams. Team 1 Scott, Day, Phil, Stenson, Kuchar, Hoffman, Kirk, Knox, Kisner. Team 2 Bubba, Rory, Phil, Stenson, Matsuyama, Hoffman, Kirk, Kisner, Thomas.

Still really mind fucked on my fantasy pick though.

Can't wait for the par 3 to tee off.

Day will be up there. Have to be able to putt and drive to win at Augusta.

Just put in Adam Scott on fantasy, but may still change it before midnight when the picks are due. Haha. Mind fucked!

I've got Spieth, Scott and Day as my team of three in a pool. No restrictions, combine all three scores.

Seth and I talked about this today. I don't think Spieth shows well this week. His game has been off all season, add in that he has complained of fatigue and has said that he's felt the pressure of being defending champion. I'll be surprised to see him in the top 10.

Agree. He spread himself way too thin early on in the year.

Edit: Would love to be wrong though.

Good article today discussing this here.

Only one defending champ since 2005 has finished in the Top 10 (Tiger in 2006), then you have Scott at 14 in 2014, and Cabrera at 18 the only others to finish in the T20 in that span.

But Jordan is also better than a lot of those champs. We'll see.

Decided to enter a Calcutta pool this year....we got:

Stenson - $2,000
Zach Johnson - $700
Brendan Grace - $600
Kaymer - $200
Chris Wood - $150
Chaplett - $100

By way of comparison, Spieth, Day and Rory went for $3,500-$4,000 and Phil went for $1,300 a boob, so I like our haul. Really, really wanted Louis, but he went for $2,600....seemed high. First place pays out around 10-1....top 10 finish and you at least get your money back....total pot ended up right at $55k.

Also points for lowest round, longest drive and a few others.

COME ON ZACH....that was my best value pick for the group...15 of us total in our group if anyone wants to get in next year....no idea the total number of folks in the entire group....more the merrier!!!

I don't expect Spieth to win it again this year, but I figure he can finish in Top 10.
Last night golf channel reported he cracked the head of his driver. Most seem to think it won't make a huge difference, but he's used the same one for 2+ years. Hopefully that's not an issue.

BTW....the Chaplet's pick is because there's a payout for highest score per round.....unfortunately it's looking like the Fowler owners might be taking that prize home.

I wonder if anyone has led The Masters for 5 straight rounds.

Jordan at -6

With this wind and the greens drying out he might have run away with this thing on day 1.
