On the other hand, Shaka Smart literally couldn't be more impressive.

Yeah, we did a feature on him for GameDay hoops and it's a little ironic now I guess because it talks about his commitment to his players and how he tries to be a father figure and that's why he kept staying at VCU, but I was very impressed. His dad left when he was a kid and he's made it a mission to not just be a coach, but to be a mentor and true father figure for his players. Say what you will about coaching shortcomings Charlie Strong has and time will tell if Havoc can work in a big boy basketball league, but we have truly impressive MEN leading our two biggest programs.

We don't know what we don't know. But I'll be damned if he didn't control that press conference like he was a mutation of the very best traits of Mack Brown and Charlie Strong.

Winning the press conference isn't something that wins championships. But perhaps the way someone wins them can sometimes allude to good things ahead.

Yeah, very disappointed for him. Say what you will about his on court performance, which certainly lacked after the concussion, but he's a guy who worked hard for four years to keep improving and gave a lot to the program and that's all we can really ask for. Hope he can be a guy who works through Europe or the D-League to get a shot in the league some day.
