Rumor has it Nike is going after him with a 10-year, $250,000,000 offer.

You think he'll actually play Nike? Or do you think he'll go the Tiger route and have something badged with the swoosh?

That arrogant fuck probably thinks he could win the grand slam with Drew's battle sticks.

Oh I'm sure he thinks that. I just was wondering if he'd play their actual stuff.

For instance Tiger plays custom made Miura's, but they're badged with the swoosh so they look like Nike clubs.

Supposedly Couples plays Miura's too.

I toyed around with some at a fitting one day. They are pretty bad ass, but can get expensive since each set is hand forged.

It's fiction.

Although you can be sure his irons are unique to anything one would order from Nike. He could have ANY customization he wanted. Not just loft, lie, bounce, offset, weight, etc but also different sizes and shapes and grinds for soles, top line, toe, anything else you could imagine.

Which is the second good reason he'd have no reason to play anything else, besides the money Nike pays him to play their stuff...which is likely more than $20 million per year.

His pursuit of Tiger (gotta catch Tiger before you can catch Jack) has pumped some life into the sport while Tiger continues to wallow in his post car accident/divorce funk (major tournament-wise that is). Rory turns 26 next May so if, and it's obviously a big if, he can win at Augusta he'd have five majors on his 26th birthday which would one behind what Tiger had when he turned 26. Tiger also won the first two majors he played after he turned 26 so Rory would have to win three of the next five majors to match that.

More simply, Tiger won 10 by the time he was thirty. To get to 10 by 30 Rory would have to win 6 of the next 17 majors. Winning a third of your majors in a four year stretch seems damn near impossible. It speaks to how great Tiger was before his life and body fell apart.

The thing with Rory is that I want to see the consistency year to year.

A month ago he still had two major wins and nobody was talking about him beating Tiger or Jack, it was about Adam Scott and how many he could win.

If he comes out next year and even wins one we can start having the conversation. But I think people too easily forget the last time he was anointed the next great one was five years ago.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if this hot streak continues now that he realized focusing on his golf game and himself and getting some strange when he needs it is way better than being wifey'd up.

I hope young Mr. Spieth takes note of the difference between the career trajectories of Tiger and Rory of late. Skip the wife thing and find some ol' broad on every tour stop and turn her face into a fresh Krispy Kreme.
