New diet plan.....

So Liz wanted to do this total transformation thing through our gym this month. So I agreed and signed up as well. They do your BMR and based off that tell you how many calories and whatnot they want you eating. Anyway, based off my weight and body make up they want me getting 45% carbs 30% protein and 25% fats. Here's the thing though.....they want me getting 2500 calories per day! Today is the first day, I feel like I've eaten everything in site and I'm stuffed yet I'm not even close to 1500 yet much less 2500. Am I crazy here that that is a huge number? Plus all the carbs? I don't usually take in a lot of carbs so I'm scrambling to get them. I mean I literally just ate two pieces of wheat bread for no reason other than I need more carbs for the day. Thoughts?

Sounds very low in fat and high in carbs. By modern standards.

But what do I know.

Are you lifting and looking to add muscle and reduce fat? How much cardio? 2500 will likely be the number that allows you to maintain your current weight. 40/30/30 is a pretty standard macro distribution. I'd stick to that and wouldn't eat carbs just to hit that number. I'm looking to do this right now and my number is 2060, but I'm a much smaller guy than you.

Also, what are you using to determine how many calories/fat/protein/carbs you're eating? I'm assuming myfitnesspal, which is great. If not, just be sure you're using a reliable source.

My BMR number was 2046. They claim that's what I could consume everyday without working out and maintain. So they told us to times it by 1.2 for workout days. So mine was just shy of 2500.

The thing I can't get past is the carbs. I mean it says I still need 160g today. I'm literally going to have to eat nothing but bread for dinner to make that happen.

More cardio than heavy lifting. I'd like to drop about 10-15 pounds.

It's funny you say that but I have 1000 calories still to consume today most of which needs to be carbs so I've seriously considered pounding Miller Lite during the Ranger game. Haha.

So talked to my old trainer who I miss dearly. He said that number is pretty close to right based on my body makeup. He said 2200-2800 per day on workout days based on his calculations. He told me to revise down to 2250 until I can get used to it. My biggest problem is I have never been a big fan of fruits, he told me to hit these numbers I'm going to have to get over that and mix them into protein shakes or something to get them in. Blech!!!

Came up just shy of 2250 last night and hit 43/34/23 on my macros. Not too bad for the first day, but God that was a lot of food to take down.

The fruits will definitely get you to the carbs number. Who doesn't like fruit?!? Veggies, I can understand.

Came up 40 calories shy today. Sitting at 44/30/26. Pretty happy with that, seemed easier today knowing what it would take.

And yeah people always think I'm crazy on the fruit thing, but just never have been a huge fan. I'm not a big sweets person, so maybe that's got something to do with it.

Eating 2200 isn't hard, it's eating clean and getting to 2200 that is difficult. Especially when minding the macros.

So this was a total bust. I stayed pretty damn true to it and lost nothing. Body fat % actually went up 0.2%. I was pretty skeptical when they told us we needed that much carbs. Going back to higher protein and fat this next cycle.

Working with a new trainer now he's absolutely killing me. I've puked everyday. He has me on a diet plan with a food journal that he checks everyday too. If you've f'ed up the diet then the workout becomes worse. I've lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks already, I'm sure a lot was water weight, but the results have been eye popping so far.

Have finally been whipped into good enough shape to no longer be puking every workout. Still getting my ass absolutely kicked though. Had to do 350 yards of walking DB lunges yesterday. Getting up and down from a seated position has been a mother fucker so far today. Down 11 pounds though.
