2014 Music

New Pixies EP dropped this week. I like:

The Reverend Horton Heat's 11th album comes out this month. Here's the song they threw out there. This is so bad that I am embarrassed for everyone involved. The Reverend is following the Weezer career trajectory where they made a few great albums and then everything they put out since then has been absolute garbage.

Should be a good year for music. New Built To Spill. New Interpol. DCFC's first album since the Gibbard/Deschanel split. New Foo Fighters. New Beck. New The New Pornographers. Oh yeah... Some gay band called U2 is putting out another record.

Not particularly looking forward to it--after hearing that Mandela song I think Bono's voice is just gone. :(

Tool also has a new album coming out for the first time in what seems like 10 years.

I wonder if Tool is going to tour in support of that album.

Way too much of this kind of crap going around these days. So bland. Don't put in a bridge or a key change or anything like that. It might sound like you actually put some effort into it.

The new Reverend album lived down to my expectations. It's <wilonsky>TERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE</wilonsky>.

Also, after skimming back through this thread, I need to ask whether I'm the only person here who would totally go to a Tool/Korn/Hole/Bush concert.

Tool - They are bad ass.
Korn - This is the one band I would have zero interest in seeing.
Bush - Their first album was entirely acceptable and Greedy Fly off of their second album was a solid track.
Hole - Never owned any of their albums, but I saw them at Lollapalooza in 1995 or whenever and they put on a decent show.

If the ticket prices weren't too outrageous, I would most definitely go.

I would go for Hole (if they played the entire Celebrity Skin album) and Bush and drink beer in the parking lot for the other two.

I'd obviously go for Tool alone, but certainly wouldn't mind seeing some Bush or Hole......errrrr, yeah no, that still applies. I'd probably take an hour bathroom break and take a dump during Korn.

I just got tickets to Maynard's 50th Birthday party at the Greek Theater in May. It's being billed as A Perfect Circle and Puscifer concert, which are his two side projects, along with "special guests", which I'm hoping and assuming will be Tool....but maybe that's wishful thinking? Don't think their new album will be out by then, so probably is wishful thinking.

You don't recognize Korn, Bush or Hole? All three had some pretty big hits in the 90s. I guarantee you have heard music from all of them at some point.

Do not like the new Fanfarlo songs. Too much synth. They need to go back to the sound they had on Reservoir.

Do like Holy Wave's new record.

I flagged on spotify but haven't listened to them. I liked their Ep last year, but the sophomore album paled in comparison to reservoir.

Hospitality has a follow-up to their 2012 debut. It's okay... Not as melodic on this one, and kind of Lo-fi.

The Old 97s track isn't doing much for me, but I'm sure that there will be plenty of good stuff on the new record.

New Afghan Whigs on April 15. I am pretty geeked out about this one since they've been quiet for the last 15 years. If you are not familiar with them, they did this:

and this:

I'm guessing that there's an approximately 100% chance that U2Horn has heard this already, but:
