2014 Movies

Saw Captain America 2 tonight. As far as scripted entertainment goes, it was thoroughly adequate. I thought the first one was OK. This one was better, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had seen the rest of the Avenger origin movies and The Avengers movie. Lots of the SHIELD stuff was lost on me. If the Marvel universe stuff does anything for you at all, you'll probably enjoy this.

10/10. Everything I've ever wanted in a monster movie.

Have seen Boyhood and A Most Wanted Man over the past week. Thumbs up to both.

Saw Guardians last night also... I love the fact that comic book movies take themselves seriously now (like Dark Knight), but honestly it was refreshing and awesome to watch one that was just plain fun... I would have liked another 15-20 minutes in it to flesh out some of the character development events, but if that is my only complaint then I'd say it was well worth the money...

Gone Girl is a worthwhile use of $10 and 2.5 hours of your time. I knew exactly nothing about this one going in other than Fincher directed it and it was about a guy whose wife disappeared. I found the first 20 or 30 minutes offputting, but it's pretty solid once it gets rolling.

The Equalizer was good. Didn't like the way the ending took place though. Denzel was great.

Anabelle was kicked butt as far as horror movies go.

Went and saw Interstellar last night and wow......more amazing stuff from Christopher Nolan....he's the best filmmaker out there right now, IMO. However, do yourself a HUGE favor, and only go see it on IMAX....that movie was made for IMAX.....pretty intense movie made much more intense in that setting. On a side note, I believe this will be the last movie to receive a 70mm IMAX print and release....it's all going digital from here.....blech.

Also saw Interstellar yesterday... Not as much of a mindfuck as Inception, but very very good... 3 hours honestly flew by... Some cheesiness and not a perfect movie, but a good ride and very Christopher Nolan

Fury was okay. All the hype blew it for me. I'd liked it more if I went in with low expectations. Sad because I love WWII movies and tanks.

+1......just got back from this, and that is one of the best movies I've seen in a long, long, long time......really great film. I haven't been paying attention to the Oscar buzz, so this may be an obvious statement, but I'm thinking that wins best pic, although I'm guessing Boyhood might be the favorite there???

I have a couple of serious problems with Birdman. I'll refrain from Spoilers, but there is about 15-20 seconds of combined footage in 2-3 spots that ruins the movie.
