WTF is goldbricking?

A quick scan of urbandictionary because Webster's isn't typically carrying the definitions of words that I find on this site...

To loaf or goof around on the job. Supposedly an old union term describing laborers (or more specifically, bricklayers) who were going so slow, it was as if each brick were made of solid gold. One can alse be referred to as a "goldbricker".

I have to admit.... I've never once heard that term.
why don't you run back to the sandbox where the rest of the kids are playing so the adults can have a discussion...it's over there....you see Howie, he's over there with PMS knocking over other kids sandcastles...looks like fun.

What the fuck is the deal with companies feeling the need to waste everybody's time? Someone who lives up in the northwest who I've crossed paths with several times at DCAA bailed out for a public accounting firm that has a group that does consulting for government contractors. They asked her if she knew anybody else that would be a good fit. She gives them my contact info, I send them a resume and off we go through the interview process. I talked to the partner in charge of the group that I'd be working in earlier this week and we are pretty close on money and benefits. I just got off of the phone with HR and the HR Broad says "OK. we're about ready to go on an offer, but the person we put in this position needs to relocate to Portland. Will that be a problem for you?" That came up with every single person I talked to at this place and each time they were all "Whatevs... Just travel to wherever your engagement is. Doesn't matter where you live." when I told them there was zero chance of me moving up there. If they know someone not being willing to move up there is a dealbreaker, why piss away 4 or 5 hours of my time and 4 or 5 hours of their people's time talking to someone they know won't move up there?

Maybe HR person not on same page as partner?

I talked to 3 other people in the project food chain. They knew I wasn't moving.

People only talk to HR when they have to. And when they do, the HR person doesn't ever listen to what they say since it doesn't matter to them and is going to have no bearing on their decision or actions.

If you move to Portland, who will answer questions about Lifetime and A&E reality shows for us at trivia?
