Any thoughts on Smash Burger? I have been to Smash Burger and Five Guys. I find myself wanting to go back to Smash Burger more so than wanting to go back to Five Guys.

talking only about cheeseburgers (fries not taken into consideration):

Five Guys > Hat Creek > P. Terry's > Mooyah > Mighty Fine

I've only had P. Terry's once. It was damn good, but not quite Mooyah in my book. Never had Mighty Fine. I wasn't overly impressed with Five Guys.

Mighty Fine is the only burger on Dan's list that I've had. It wasn't worth what I paid for it.

Mooyah's bun kills it for me. P. Terry's could use a better bun too, but Mooyah is always soggy and/or stale.

A new Smash Burger just opened up next to my place that I'm looking forward to trying.

Rumor has it that they are owned by football players. Can anyone confirm?

You need to find a new Mooyah location then. I've never had that problem at the one in Colleyville.

The only difference I see in Mooyah (which closed here in Austin) and Five Guys is that Five Guys uses fresh japs instead of pickled ones. Everything else about them is the same.

I've only had Hat Creek once, I think.

I've been eating a lot of Whataburger lately: Double meat and cheese, all the way, with japs. I did have P Terry's the other day, and despite it being a small burger, I never seem to still be hungry afterward. Plus they have Dublin Dr. Pepper and some tasty root beer brand I had never heard of, in their soda fountain.

Five Guys/Mooyah is not much less than Mighty Fine, if they're less at all. You're looking at close to $10 for a burger, fries and a drink. Given a choice between the three I'd probably go with Mighty Fine. Kristina and I can go to P Terry's for about $13 combined.

My wife and youngest daughter went to PTerry's not too long ago. We all got shakes and cheeseburger baskets. It was around 17-18 bucks. We were very pleased with the price and the food. Fries where very good and the shakes were great. Like others have mentioned burgers aren't the biggest buy they don't disappoint in taste.

Thanks Dan.

Drew is right about Mooyah & Five Guys. Pretty much the same except the difference in jalapenos (pickled vs. fresh). I personally prefer the pickled at Mooyah. While I love REALLY spicy food, if you get one or two too many fresh jalapenos on your burger, you'll be feeling it.

I wanna say that they have a few mor sauces to choose from on the burger too.

And I don't think Mooyah offers the "cajun style" fries but I can't really remember whose fries are better anyway. Just that they give you a shit ton at Five Guys.

I believe Mooyah makes their own buns daily, no? Maybe Dan just got a bad batch. My trips to Mooyah have always delivered the goods. I think the Mooyah and Five Guys burgers are pretty comparable (I've been alternating between the two the past few months), but Mooyah's "Mooyah Style" sauce sets it over the top for me.

I think I like the Cajun fries at Five Guys better though.

Speaking of, it's lunch time.

I dunno, I've gone quite a few times now (there's one in Allen pretty close to me for the last couple of years). I recently had Five Guys in Austin, along with the other places in Austin since I've been going down there for work.

Mooyah is still good, don't get me wrong. And their fries are the best of all (Five Guys are really close though). That's why I still go fairly often. It's the best quick burger spot close to me in Allen.

...at least until In 'N' Out opens?

Oh and I did finally get to try In n Out for the first time before we moved and it lived up to the hype. Very solid for the price. Sherri really, really liked it.

We could probably edit that into some gold.

Your Own Fucking Five Guys Thread

It's good, but pricey, and the Congress loc's wait is ridiculous. I'll stand in line 45 min for BBQ, but there are two dozen places in town to get a good burger.

I'll have to drop Five Guys down a few notches. The last few times I've eaten there it's been subpar and the fries have been limp.

A&W's rank surprises me. I would expect a crappy fast food burger from them. I would also put DQ above most of the national chains.

And not nearly enough love for Whataburger. Damn I love Whataburger.
